Run to Him…Posted: June 6, 2012
Everything happens in a split of a moment. You’ve suddenly grown old. You’ve suddenly fallen sick. You’ve suddenly become poor. You’ve suddenly lost a loved one. You’ve suddenly died…
Nobody can anticipate Allah’s decree. Life, in all of its disguises, offers no security whatsoever. We’ve been tricked, more like seduced into believing that we’re immortals. Look at how we behave…look at what we do. A person anticipating death works to prepare for it, but a person engrossed in this world forgets it. Remember, nothing lasts except Allah – that is for sure. You may reach the pinnacle of wealth and vanity today, but Allah has promised that it will soon end. You can possess everything the world has to offer, but it will shortly dissolve in the air. Just take Fir’awn as an example. Look how rich and powerful He was, and look at what happened to him. There are many of his likes..all of which Allah has made an example for us. No one has been able to evade death even if the were to trade in all their possessions for just one minute longer in life, they wouldn’t be able to do it.
Everyone will die. It could be today or in 20 years – the knowledge lies only with Allah. Nobody is young forever. The hair will gradually turn white, the body will suddenly become frail. Our lives become one big regret because we chose to ignore the teachings and advise of the Qur’an. It’s right there next to you on the table, open its page, and read Allah’s words. We chose to turn away from the words of the Prophet, salah allahu ‘alayhi wa salam. What are you going to say to him when you meet him on the day of Judgment? Will you say that you ignored his teachings and mocked his religion, or will you be proud to say that you’ve accepted him, and did your best to imitate him? Are you waiting for your childern to grow-up, graduate, and start their own lives, and then think about what you will do? What guarantees do you have that you will be living that day?
The wise person is one that takes notice early and changes his or her life and works for the hereafter. Submit to Allah, may He have mercy on you. Whether we go to Him voluntarily or by force, we all have to return to Him..one way or another. Nobody can protect us; nobody can save us.
Why wait until you’ve fallen ill to realize His Might. Why wait until you’ve lost a loved one before you realize His Mighty. Why wait until you see death before your eyes to repent…why? You have the chance to do it now…today.
Everyone can make a change. Don’t let your sins be a barrier, for we’ve all sinned. Allah is All-Merciful, and He can turn all your sins to reward. Allah accepts everyone who turns to Him sincerely.
Now, run to Him! Run to Him as He is waiting for you…
The Prophet, salah allahu ‘alayhi wa salam, said,
Allah says: ‘I am just as My slave thinks I am (i.e. I am able to do for him what he thinks I can do for him), and I am with him if He remembers Me. If he remembers Me in himself, I too, remember him in Myself; and if he remembers Me in a group of people, I remember him in a group that is better than they; and if he comes one span nearer to Me, I go one cubit nearer to him; and if he comes one cubit nearer to Me, I go a distance of two outstretched arms nearer to him; and if he comes to Me walking, I go to him running.’
