‘I love it’Posted: August 4, 2012
There was a man from the Ansar who used to lead them in prayer in Qubaa mosque, and every time he began reciting a chapter in prayer, he would start with (قُلْ هُوَ اللَّهُ أَحَدٌ) until he finishes it, then he would start another chapter after it. He would do that in every rak’ah.
His companions spoke to him and said: ‘You begin with this chapter and you don’t complete (the rak’ah) until you read another chapter with it, so either you read it by itself or you leave it and read another chapter.’
He said, ‘I’m not leaving it. If you like that i lead the prayer with it, then i will, and if you dislike that, I will not lead’.
However, they viewed him as one of their best and dislike that anyone else lead them except him.
So, when the Prophet (salah allahu ‘alayhi wa salam) arrived, they informed him. He asked him, ‘O Fulan, what prohibits you from doing what your companions have commanded you, and what carries you to recite this chapter (surat Al-Ikhlaas) in every rak’ah?’
He said, ‘I love it’.
The Prophet (salah allahu ‘alayhi wa salam) said, ‘Your love for it has entered you to Jannah.’

This great companion is Kulthoom bin Al-Hidam Al-Ansari, the shaikh of Al-Ansar. May Allah be pleased with him and unite us with the Sahabah in Jannat Al-Firdaws..
