“Increase your recitation of the Qur’an…”

Ibrahim bin Abdulwahid advised Al-Dhia al-Maqdisi when he wanted to travel for knowledge: “Increase your recitation of the Qur’an and do not leave it; for what you seek will be facilitated to you by the amount you read”.

Al-Dhia said, “I saw this and have tried it a lot, when I would read (the Qur’an) a lot, it was facilitated for me to hear the hadith and write a lot of it, and if I did not read, it was not facilitated for me”

[Dhail Tabaqat Al-Hanabilah, Ibn Rajab, 3/205]

Remember it during your hardships

“Ponder Surat {Have We not opened your breast for you} and remember it during your hard times, and know that it is one of the greatest cures during crisis”  – Shaikh ‘Aidh Al-Qarni

Let the Qur’an be your reliever, comforter, and medication, away from all the pains of the world into the realm of Iman…with the words of Allah (‘azza wa jaal).

“What makes you cry?”

Ibn Al-Munkadir once stood up to pray the night prayer and began crying profusely in his prayer. His family became worried and called upon his friend Abu Hazm, so he came and asked Ibn Al-Munkadir, “What makes you cry?” Ibn Al-Mukadir replied, “I passed by the verse, ‘And  there  will  appear  to  them  from Allah that  which  they  had not  taken  into  account. [39:47].

Abu Hazm then began to cry profusely also. Ibn Al-Munkadir’s family said, “We have called you here to relieve him of  his sadness but you have only increased it!” Thereupon, he informed them what made them both cry.
